In Nursery, the lesson manual doesn't specifically instruct us to follow the order of lessons in the manual, although, I find they are clustered together in themes for learning, the last few lessons were on THE BODY and the next few lessons are on FAMILY.
As there are some new faces in Nursery it is a great time to get to know the children a bit better and more about the families that they belong too.
The following is the order of our lessons:
11# I love my family
12# I can pray with my family
13# My family can be together forever
14# I will obey
We have 17 Nursery children on our roll and when they are all in attendance Nursery becomes a bit like a "Jungle" I decided that I wanted our Nursery to be a time to really get to know the children creating responsive and respectful relationships with each one is important, small group learning in their early years is vital to having positive and meaningful learning within a church setting.
Small Groups are best for Nursery aged children it assists them to develop within age appropiate ways in relation to Language and Conversation, Social skills such as turn taking, they are supported to show interest in a group activity, develop friendships and promote positive group behaviour management.
This month we will be introducing the children to their groups: Giraffee's - Stand Tall (Bonnie/Sarcha), Lions - Be Brave (Huia/Jade), Monkeys - Be Kind (Bro & Sis Mauili).
During Nursery time they will be encouraged to play and learn alongside their group and their leaders.
